Mid Week 9/28-29/10 Let's stay healthy

The mid week workouts are posted, this being the last hard workout for those running marathons next week. We'll finish with 6x800 so that you can see if you've improved from the last time we did them. Those running NY are on the track and those getting ready for Seattle will be on hills.

Personally I'm sicker than a dog, got some throat and cough issues, can't really talk which I'm sure you're thinking isn't a bad thing. I more than likely will skip tonight's workout to spare you from any bad germs that I might send your way.

That being said all of you running next week make sure that you're getting your rest and you might throw a little vitamin C into your diet if you haven't already.

We're starting the planning for pacing for Seattle and will send out more info on that soon. If you paced for RnR you'll have first shot at the positions you had for that. If you want to change you'll have to make arraignments with another pacer or go into the hat with everyone else, again we'll get stuff out soon.

Glen will be heading up the water stop that we have been involved with over the past few years and he'll be posting info on that soon as well.

Mid Week 9/21-22/10, planning for the future

Training for the early fall marathons is winding down with many of you running in a couple of weeks in Portland, Victoria, Hartford or Chicago. Followed by Marine Corps, New York, Seattle, CIM(just added a group for that in the community), Honolulu  Now is a great time to start planning for your recovery and then future events.

I think planning now helps you get on your way recovery wise and helps you transition back into training after you recover. I don't think you need to obsess over  it as you may have a biggy around the corner but you can start to lay out a loose plan to get you going after your upcoming event. I'll be putting up training plans for most winter and spring events this week so that you can see whats available and help you plan for them. Certainly feel free to create group in the community before hand that'll help me put them together.

We have a nice group shaping up training for the Seattle Half, that schedule started just a couple of weeks ago. so if you've been on the fence about running it. it's not too late. I think it would be nice to get a nice group of 20 or so training for it.

This took place in France the first week of  month, several of our members took flight to attend this event that is probably more party than race. looking at the results it appears the they took part in the party and not that race with them finishing in the 5 1/2 6 1/4 hour range. Sounds like fun!

Mid Week 9/14-15/10

Thanks to all that were able to attend the Martha Stewart promotion on Saturday. Thankfully I was able to unload all of the swag. It was a nice day for a run with several new people and a great day to run, helping those who were getting in their last twenty before all of the 10-10-10 events.

I may not be able to attend the workout tonight, I have a meeting I can't get out of, an all day sort of affair. For those of you training for an a fore mentioned event your workout is 12x400 @5k (2 mi tt) pace with a 200 jog. It's very important that you keep this at 5K pace. I'm sure you can do this faster but I want to allow a bit more recovery for those that ran half's recently and 5K pace is fast enough for those with upcoming events. Everyone else with later events continue on with hills, those training for Seattle Half continue on with Tempo runs.

We meet again at Madison Park this Saturday, anyone forget last weekend?

Not that you care,  You know which movie just cracks me up? Super Troopers, I'm not sure why but it just about makes me cry , I laugh so hard.

Saturday Reminders

  1. Don't forget that we'll start meeting at Madison Park tomorrow for our Saturday morning runs until mid November. This will give you a great opportunity to run on the the Seattle Marathon and Half courses and get to know them inside and out. Also it's a nice change of scenery and adds a bit a variety after running from Greenlake all year.
  2. Also remember that tomorrows run is part of a nation wide promo for Martha Stewart's move to the Hallmark channel. They sent me plenty of swag to hand out including t-shirts (womens), aprons, wooden spoons and small cotton towels. If you're not currently a member of the group this would be a great time to come and check out the group. Go for a nice run see how the group works and ask me any questions if you have them.
I'll see you in the am.

Mid Week9/7-8/10, SJJ and Martha Stewart

Great job to everyone who ran yesterday. There were many, many PR's allowed by just about perfect weather. Cloudy, cool , a light drizzle at times and no wind. We had over 40 members running which is great. I haven't had a chance to get times for posting but I did get an image gallery up.

Congrats to Steve and Kris, group members who married over the weekend at Lake Tahoe.

This weekend will be our first at Madison Park for our Saturday morning runs this fall. This week will also be a little different in that we will be doing our run as part of a national promotion celebrating Martha Stewart's move to the Hallmark. (why? don't ask me)They are sending me Women's t-shirts, spoons and aprons to hand out to everyone. If you are a reader of this blog and haven't been out to one of runs this is a great opportunity to go for a run with us and pick up some swag as well. All are invited. If you have friends that have been sitting on the fence about joining the group, again a great a opportunity to see the group in actions as well as pick up some free stuff and ask me a ny questions if you have them. Please pass this on. We'll be leaving a tads later this week plan to get started about 8:00. here's a link to the location  http://goo.gl/maps/iZN4 we meet right on the side on Madison street in front of the park. The Seattle half marathon training plan has just started so a great time to get started with the group.
